Are you passionate about seeing the needs of children and young people prioritised? Do you believe they are a valuable part of our community? The Southmead Adventure Playground (The Ranch) is a well-loved local site and provides valued activities throughout the year for children, young people, and families in Southmead. Based on their emerging strengths and needs, you will help to prepare and lead sessions in an engaging way and be able to respond proactively to what emerges. You will also ensure everyone has a safe and fun visit to our sessions.

Southmead Development Trust is one of Bristol’s leading, independent, community led organisations. We are a multi-purpose charity providing much needed services for all ages and ethnicities to achieve a thriving community and improve health, wellbeing, local pride, and employment. Our two sites (Greenway Centre and Southmead Adventure Playground) are much-loved local venues that provide inspiring spaces for a wide variety of experiences, including sporting events, local groups, festivals and much more. 

ABOUT YOU:

  • Confident to support youth sessions and run activities. 
  • Be able to introduce and support a broad range of initiatives and activities which create varied, stimulating, and fun sessions. 
  • Experience in responding to a range of experiences, and behaviours and able to de-escalate challenging behaviour. 
  • Experience of following safeguarding procedures and providing a safe space for young people. 
  • Passionate about providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all. 
  • Able to work collaboratively and flexibly with the team and partners to ensure delivery of sessions and safety of our sites.

DETAILS:

Location: Based at Southmead Adventure Playground, and Greenway Centre, Bristol, BS10

Contract type: Permanent

Salary: £23,699 (12.32ph) – £26,282 (13.66ph) per year pro rata (depending on experience and qualifications)

Hours:6 – 9 hours a week, possibly Monday, definitely Wednesday and Friday 5:30pm – 8:30pm (face to face delivery 6pm – 8pm)

Holiday & benefits: 33 days annual leave pro rata (inclusive of Bank Holidays), occupational pension, free membership to Greenway Gym and classes.
