Southmead Regeneration shortlisted for the South West’s Top Planning Award

We’re delighted that Southmead Regeneration has been shortlisted for this year’s RTPI SW Awards for Planning Excellence – the South West’s top planning award. Nash Partnership architects have been working alongside Southmead Development Trust and the community of Southmead to develop what is one of the largest community-led housing schemes in the country.

The annual regional Awards for Planning Excellence celebrate projects and people who have helped create exceptional places and improved the lives of those who live and work there.

Southmead Development Trust will be welcoming the judges for a site visit, at the end of September, to hear more about our resident-led scheme set to transform the centre of our community.

Southmead Regeneration will ultimately provide 300+ homes in the community with Phase One providing 120 affordable and ethical homes, new community facilities including a library and health centre, and transforming the public centre into a thriving and welcoming space for the community.

The scheme is led by a steering group made up of Southmead residents and stakeholders, and has emerged as a direct response to Southmead’s Community Plan – a resident-led plan for the area which details what changes local people would like to see take place in Southmead.

Southmead Regeneration will address several of the challenges identified in the Community Plan including a desperate lack of access to homes, crime and anti-social behavior, and the need to improving and reclaiming underused and neglected public space and facilities.

The scheme is due to be submitted for planning on September 20th 2019, and is a huge achievement for the community of Southmead. We are proud of all the hard work of local residents and our project partners which has brought the project this far!
