May: News for Glencoyne Square & Arnside

03/06/2025

This past month, we have continued our search for, and have been having conversations with, potential housing providers who could build the new flats on Glencoyne Square.  When the residential homes are being built, Southmead Development Trust will be building community space on the ground floor, including the new library.

We have also begun working in partnership with Power to Change.  Their Community-led High Street Innovators project fund will help us to work out how, as a community, we can look at further revitalising Arnside, Southmead’s own ‘high street’ area.

Other organisations are involved in the project such as: Artspace Lifespace (who run Sparks, where Marks & Spencer used to be in Broadmead); The Arcade Dewsbury in West Yorkshire; Mad Lab in Stockport; and Make CIC in Liverpool.  We will all be working together to see how our communities can lead efforts to improve their own areas.

We will be sharing the story of the Southmead Community Plan with our partners, and how many resident-led actions grew from the plan, including the Arnside and Glencoyne Regeneration project; the setbacks, challenges, and successes are all vital to the story so far.

We are delighted to be part of this new project and thank Power to Change for the opportunity and for their funding.  We will bring you more news as the project develops.

Do visit our Glencoyne Square pages for more info about community-led housing in Southmead, and contact us if you have any questions.
