Link Forward Celebrate New Funding
21/04/2022
We’re very excited that Link Forward, our Children and Young People’s Social Prescribing service, has been successful in our bid to the Green Social Prescribing fund.
Our first test and learn project “Sounds of the Forest” produced fantastic outcomes for the young people who attended in addition to the Wild Words Audio Trail which is a lovely memory for all involved. So, we made the decision make Forest School a permanent fixture in our in-house social prescribing groups!
The money allocated from Green Social Prescribing will fund an entire year of our Forest School, now named “Southmead Explorers”. It will also fund a year of “Kids Matter” parenting programmes, for the parents and carers of the children attending Southmead Explorers. We hope that this will enable us to meet some of the wider needs of the family and empower the parents in supporting their children’s wellbeing.
The first of three 12 week terms will be kicking off after Easter, with a new group of 12 children and young people who have accessed the Link Forward service. Getting outside, engaging in nature and building new skills is such a confidence boost. We hope that they see the same wonderful benefits as the previous group and can’t wait to see what they get up to!
