High Commendation for Southmead Regeneration at the National Planning Awards!

Southmead Regeneration was shortlisted for the award for Community Led Place-making. Today, we found out that the project received a High Commendation!

This is deserved recognition for the vision, drive, perseverance and dedication which our Southmead community has shown in making the regeneration of Arnside and Glencoyne Square a reality. It’s been six years of determined work from the start of the surveys, which formed the Community Plan, to now.

We’re really proud that our community’s work can be held up as an example across the country. The project is setting a precedent for what can be achieved when we listen to local communities and they lead on what they want in their area.

Southmead is at the forefront of Community Led Housing.  This is a sustainable, people-driven way of providing affordable housing with local people in the driving seat. This is one of the largest community led housing projects in the UK. It’s really putting Southmead on the map! The scheme will provide 120 new homes, 85% will be affordable. There will be a Local Lettings Policy to ensure local people get priority for homes allocations.

We hope that the Southmead Regeneration project can be a strong inspiration for other local communities in Bristol, across the country, and maybe even further afield.

People of Southmead, we did this! Well done to everyone who has been part of the journey so far – long may our successes continue!
