Person Specification: Community and Climate Engagement Worker
RESPONSIBILITIES
- To go out into the community and talk to people on the doorstep, in the street, or at community venues.
- Discuss climate change, energy, and homes, in Southmead to find out what people think and what changes they would like to see.
- Find out who in Southmead has made their homes more energy efficient and how they did this.
- Help plan and run events and engagement activities for this project and for the Community Development team.
- Work with the teams to record what we find out.
- Share what you have found out with the team and help come up with project ideas for the future.
- Keep in touch with people we have talked to. This may involve sending them information about what’s on at Greenway, The Ranch, or in Southmead, linking up to projects or services, volunteering, or getting involved in the community.
- Support the Climate and Nature Action Coordinator and Community Development Manager to create presentations and reports for their projects.
- Find creative ways to reach different people, including young people, families, and non-English speakers.
- Help with online activities, like making posters or social media posts.
- Work with the teams to make sure our events are inclusive and accessible.
- Work with the Community Development Manager to action ideas and feedback from the 2024 Yearly Update, and design next year’s engagement.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

ESSENTIAL
- Interested in climate, the environment, homes, and nature.
- Enthusiastic to learn more about working and engaging with the community.
- Good at talking and listening to people from different backgrounds.
- Experience of working in a team and using your own initiative.
- Organised and good with time management.
- Able to use Outlook and Microsoft programs.
- Knowledge of Southmead.
DESIRABLE
- Knowledge of languages spoken in Southmead
- Understanding of how community development works.
- Knowledge of the local area.
- Experience working or volunteering at events.
