About you
- Experience working with children and young people aged 11- 16, paid or voluntary.
- Enthusiastic about supporting youth sessions and delivering a diverse range of activities, including cooking, sport, gaming, and socialising.
- Experience in responding to a range of experiences and behaviours, and able to de-escalate challenging behaviour.
- Sensitivity to children and young people facing challenging social or home environments.
- Willingness to obtain First Aid and other necessary and/or recommended qualifications if not already held.
- Passionate about providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Able to work collaboratively and flexibly with the team and partners to ensure delivery of sessions and safety of our sites.

About the Role
- Provide a safe and inclusive environment for children and young people to meet, socialise, and take part in a range of positive activities.
- Support delivery of open-access youth sessions at the Ranch site (Southmead Adventure Playground).
- Provide accurate and appropriate information, advice, and guidance to young people.
- Offer and provide support and advocacy with and for young people through a variety of methods.
- Ensure young people’s comments, voices, and suggestions are at the heart of the programme of activities, responding to their strengths and needs.
- Identify emerging issues and recommend responses relating to young people in the area.
- Support conflict resolution among children and young people to promote a positive, cooperative atmosphere.
Details
- Location: Greenway Centre, Bristol, BS10 5PY
- Contract: 1x permanent role -0 hours flexible contracts are also available for staff cover during busy periods and staff absences as needed.
- Salary: £25,964 (£13.49ph) – £29,239 (£15.20ph) per year pro rata (depending on experience and qualifications).
- Hours: Part-time, 6 hours per week.
- Reports to: Youth Engagement Manager
- Holiday: 33 days annual leave pro-rata (inclusive of Bank Holidays), occupational pension, free membership to Greenway Gym and classes.
- Sick Pay: 4 weeks over rolling year, pro-rata
- Training and Development Opportunities: All mandatory training and job-specific training offered, e.g., First Aid, Safeguarding, Motivational Interviewing, Management and Leadership, Trauma-Informed Practice, and Reflective Practice
- Pension Contribution: Nest Pension Scheme, combined 7% (employer 3%, employee 4% as standard)
