We are Hiring: Volunteer Coordinator

14/04/2026

Apply by: 9am, Tuesday 28th April. However, please submit your application as soon as possible, as we may close this role ahead of the advertised deadline if we find the right candidate.

Join our work to support our communities to thrive

Do you believe volunteering has the power to strengthen communities, build confidence, and create meaningful connections? Are you great at bringing people together and helping them to feel valued, supported, and inspired?

If you are passionate about inclusive, community-led volunteering, we would love to hear from you.

Here at the Trust, you will play a central role in shaping and coordinating our volunteer community.  Our volunteers contribute in all sorts of ways – from befriending neighbours and supporting youth sessions, to supporting activities like cold water swimming and gardening, or finding buddies for our gym members who are disabled.

You will help to create a welcoming and supportive environment where volunteers can thrive, grow in confidence, and make a real difference.

If you bring compassion, creativity, and a commitment to empowering others, this is a fantastic opportunity to have a lasting impact in our community.

About us

We are a Bristol-based charity made up of staff, volunteers, and residents working together to keep power in our community. We work alongside local people and partners to improve health, wellbeing, employment, and local pride – while tackling social isolation and bringing investment into the area.

Guided by residents, our vision is a thriving and healthy community. We provide the support, spaces, and services our community needs through our two well-loved sites Greenway Centre and The Ranch Adventure Playground and Youth Space.  These venues host a wide range of activities, including wellbeing services, youth and play sessions, fitness classes, community groups, and local celebrations.

We are proud to be a Disability Confident employer and welcome applications from everyone. We are committed to building a team that reflects the diversity of our community. If you need any adjustments during the recruitment process or in the workplace, just let us know – we will do our best to support you.

About you

You will be someone who:

  • Has strong experience coordinating or supporting volunteers, including recruitment, onboarding, support, supervision, and recognition.
  • Builds positive, trusting relationships with people from diverse communities, including vulnerable people or those facing barriers.
  • Has the energy and passion to take forward our volunteering programme, developing new opportunities to increase our impact.
  • Understands the various reasons why someone might volunteer, can help people reach their goals, and work with complexity.
  • Is passionate about community development and the power of volunteering.
  • Is organised, proactive, and able to manage multiple priorities in a busy community environment.
  • Communicates clearly, compassionately, and confidently with volunteers, staff, and partners.
  • Works well independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Values inclusion, equity, wellbeing, and a strengths-based approach.

About the role

As Volunteer Coordinator you will lead the development and delivery of a high-quality volunteering experience across the Trust. You will oversee the full volunteer journey – from attraction and recruitment to induction, support, engagement, and recognition – ensuring every volunteer feels welcomed, valued, and able to thrive in their role.

Working closely with staff and community partners, you will coordinate volunteering activity across a range of programmes, including our one-to-one befriending service, wellbeing groups, community events, youth and play services, fitness activities, site facilities, and more. You will support teams to identify and grow meaningful volunteer opportunities and involve volunteers effectively, while maintaining consistency, safety, and good practice.

You will also lead improvements to our volunteer processes, systems, and communications, helping us strengthen our volunteer culture and enabling more local people to get involved.

This is an opportunity to build on an already successful programme, growing and diversifying our volunteering offer to create opportunities that build confidence, skills, and social connection. You will help develop specialist and supported one-to-one and group facilitation roles, particularly within wellbeing services, invest in volunteer group leaders to expand community-led activity, and support a new generation of community leaders from diverse backgrounds.
