Southmead’s Window Wanderland: Take Part in the Community Art Gallery

11/02/2025

Southmead’s Window Wanderland

By Tom Sollars, Climate & Community Engagement Worker

Everyone is invited to take part in Southmead’s first-ever Window Wanderland.  This will be a public ‘art gallery’ created by residents for residents with the theme of Climate and Community.  The gallery picture frames will be the windows of our own homes, on our own streets, for everyone to visit.

On the weekend of Friday 21st – Sunday 23rd March residents will be putting home-made works of art up in front windows, and leaving the light on inside so the designs will be beautifully illuminated.

Then, as the light fades after 6 PM, we can all take a stroll following a route map on our phones to see the glorious designs made by us all.  There will also be a large display on the windows at Greenway Centre created by the community groups who meet up there in Community Corner.

No art experience is needed to take part and everyone can join in.  We can either make our own designs at home (link to inspiration HERE), or pop along to free workshops at Greenway (info below) where free materials are provided.  Packs including free materials and instructions are also available at Greenway to take home if you do not have time to stay.

We hope that as many residents as possible will join in to decorate and light up homes, showcasing the diversity, spirit of inclusion, and love for our environment in Southmead.

All homes displaying designs need to register on the digital map HERE – this will give us all a map on our phones to be able to plan our ‘wander’ around Southmead’s fantastic art gallery.  If you need help to register, we can help with that.

Every household taking part will also be entered into a prize draw.
