The First Bristol Grand Iftar – Southmead: Everyone Invited on Friday 13th March
04/03/2026
We will be hosting the very first Bristol Grand Iftar in Southmead, at Greenway, on Friday 13th March. This kind of event is my favourite – one that will bring together families from different cultures and backgrounds in our community, for delicious food.
Iftar is the evening meal that breaks the period of not eating (fasting) during the holy month of Ramadan. It is a time centred on reflection, gratitude, and community. As the sun prepares to set, people will not only gather to share a meal, but to share neighbourhood and togetherness.
It is part of my work to bring different cultural communities in Southmead together, and I am delighted we can host Southmead’s first Grand Iftar here at Greenway. It is one of the many cultural events the Trust is proud to support and reflects our continued commitment to all residents across our diverse community. As one of the organisers of this event has said:
“Where I am from, everyone celebrates everything, regardless of their religion. We all celebrate Christmas, we all celebrate Eid”.
This lovely sentiment captures the spirit of what this evening will represent – a shared experience. We hope it will mark the beginning of a new tradition, one that continues to foster understanding, belonging, and connection.
We warmly invite all residents to join us for this special evening. To reserve your place, please book HERE, or scan the QR in the image below.
