You’re In For a Treat with Travelling Kitchen!
23/03/2021
We’ve had the lovely Travelling Kitchen using our Greenway Café kitchen to make lots of tasty treats for the vaccination team to enjoy the next day at the clinic. Their first day was Tuesday 9th March. Clare and Sarah, the team at Travelling Kitchen, said,
“During the first lockdown we volunteered to cook meals to go out with food parcels for our partner schools. In December we cooked mince pies for the lantern parade with ingredients donated by SDT and our time we donated for free. It was so good to be back in Southmead seeing familiar faces, meeting new people and being part of a community event that was so important for morale. Whilst we can’t run any workshops due to Covid-19 restrictions, we wanted to volunteer our services again and Charlie suggested providing healthy snacks for the staff and volunteers at the vaccination clinic in recognition of all their hard work.”
The vaccination team from Greenway Community Practice and other GP surgeries were really happy with the treats. We don’t blame them – everything looked delicious! The team are back each week for the next couple of weeks to keep the vaccination team fuelled and energised.
Travelling Kitchen is a Bristol-based social enterprise working with schools and community groups to engage people with food creatively, increase confidence about cooking, and promote awareness of the cultural, social and historical significance of food. You can follow their work here.
