Green Skills in our Community Hub The Ranch
27/04/2026
We have been exploring how green skills could be developed in a community setting – and what that could mean for Southmead’s young people.
We asked: do places like The Ranch Adventure Playground and Youth Space provide valuable spaces for learning and skill-building? And what makes this kind of community hub different from other spaces in the City?
Over last summer, we ran pilot projects and spoke with our young people, and green skills experts, to understand the bigger picture.
We learnt that community hubs like The Ranch offer hands-on, engaging environments where young people can learn through play and exploration. Hubs create opportunities to build practical green skills in ways that are not always available at school or at home.
To bring this work to life, we commissioned a short film capturing the experiences, insights and impact of the project.
Watch our film to see how community spaces can inspire learning, confidence and a connection to a greener future
