Many of you will know David Sully, he is the Wellbeing Coach at the Greenway Centre and runs Monday Social Badminton – a group who play for fun, with a cup of tea and a chat afterwards.

I first met David around ten years ago. I was working for local HIV charity, Brigstowe, and David was working for the Diversity Trust. Sometimes our paths would cross at events, or we would work on joint projects. So, when I started working at Greenway around eighteen months ago, I was overjoyed when our paths crossed again. David was already working here to lead the activity project for residents called physical social prescribing.
David does fantastic work meeting residents to support them with physical health and wellbeing – anything from nutrition and sleep, to activity or mood. He works one-to-one with people who experience different health conditions and disabilities, taking time to really understand each person before linking them with activities and services that will best support them.
We offer lots of activities here at Greenway, so David is never short of groups to link people with. His lovely Social Badminton group is relaxed and welcoming, and is as much about having a cup of tea as it is about hitting a shuttle cock!
In June I was absolutely overjoyed when David’s project won at the Social Prescribing Awards. It is brilliant that David’s work has been recognised nationally and internationally! So please join me in wishing David huge congratulations.
