Can You Volunteer at Techy Tea Party?

Have you ever found yourself confused by your phone, a laptop, or tablet not doing what you want it to? Or that you are not sure how to keep up with the latest updates?

If so, you are not alone! Many things are moving online – getting your food shop, staying in touch with friends and family, online banking, or making GP appointments. It can all be frustrating if you have never been shown how to do it. This is why Techy Tea Party is here!

Techy Tea Party runs across the whole community so there is a location to suit everyone.  Our home base is at Greenway Centre, every other Monday, 11 AM – 12:30 PM; here in our Community Corner you will receive a warm welcome, a cuppa, and be in good company.

We also take Techy Tea Party on tour, out and about in the community.  It is at Southmead Library every Tuesday, 1 – 3 PM, and at Stephen’s Church on the first Wednesday of every month, 10:30 – 11.30 AM.

Southmead Librarian Emma Gillis said, “Techy Tea Party has helped with travel documents for a cruise, solved security problems on someone’s laptop, scanned and emailed papers, and helped upload CVs, to name but a few issues.  Feel free to drop in to Southmead Library on Tuesday afternoons, the team may be able to lighten your IT load!”

We would not be able to run Techy Tea Party without our wonderful team of volunteers, and now we are on the lookout for some more.

Are you able to confidently use your phone and any other devices like tablets and laptops – do you think you have the time and the patience to volunteer to help someone learn how to use theirs? If so, we would love to hear from you.

Wherever Techy Tea Party is, it is always a friendly space, with free hot drinks, and volunteer travel expenses covered.
