Are You Ready for Southmead-on-Sea’s Community Festival?

We are so excited that it is nearly time to welcome you all to Southmead-on-Sea this Saturday 25th July, from 11am – 4pm. Every year the team here at Southmead Development Trust is delighted to coordinate the Southmead Festival at our Greenway Centre community hub. This year the Festival theme is all things seaside – if we cannot take our whole community to the beach, we will bring the beach to Southmead!
- Wear your seaside garb and join the Fancy Dress Parade with prizes
- Try your hand at the Human Fruit Machine in the Amusements ‘Arcade’
- Watch your little ones enjoy a donkey ride
- Feel the funfair thrills
- Play Beach Volleyball with our local ball experts Southmead Rugby Club and Southmead FC – who’s side are you on?
- Ride the surf simulator, and paddle in the cooling off pool
There will be something for everyone and more. Seaside delights include cream teams and Cornish pasties at Greenway’s onsite Café Des Amis. Food stalls will be offering Polish desserts, Caribbean curry, Indian and Sudanese snacks, and funfair chips. Southmead Rugby Club will be running their usual BBQ and Beer (on the beach this time!), plus there is a Mocktail and Smoothie stand.
Greenway’s monthly market will be in the hall with a fantastic range of hand-made crafts, gifts, and treasures – things you will find nowhere else. And the monthly Southmead Repair Cafe volunteers will be here to lend a hand to fix the household wares you want to use again (does your deck chair need repairing!).
We are grateful for donations from our supporters Kendall Kingscott, St Monica Trust, Tesco Limetrees, and LiveWest. Special thanks to Sweet Projects who are cycling coast-to-coast (the East coast to Southmead-on-Sea) to raise funds towards us opening our children and young people’s hub, The Ranch, for Saturday sessions; the cyclists will arrive during the Festival so do join us to give them a big cheer.
We also want to thank our wonderful local shops and business for donating vouchers for our Raffle – the top prize is a £100 shopping voucher; you need to be in it to win it so do grab your ticket!
So do come along, singalong, play along, compete, eat, drink, and have a wonderful community day with us by the Southmead seashore.
