Nature Wellbeing and Greenway Community Garden

I am the new Nature Wellbeing Groups Coordinator here at Southmead Development Trust, and I am excited to start exploring how nature, gardening, and time spent outdoors can support health, wellbeing and community connection.

Our community hub, Greenway Centre, has long been a place where people come together to learn, connect, stay active, and support one another. And we now have some exciting opportunities to extend that sense of community outdoors, and to create a space where people and nature can thrive together.

You may remember we have created a community garden here at Greenway and I would love to hear your ideas about how we can work on it together.  You might have suggestions for more wildlife-friendly areas, more types of flowers, fruit and vegetables, or creating opportunities for gentle outdoor activity and social connection.

Or you may simply want to tell us what would make the garden feel welcoming and enjoyable for you.  Every idea, suggestion, and offer of support is valuable. Whether you have gardening experience, practical DIY skills, time to volunteer, or are a complete beginner looking to get involved, there is a place for you.

You can find me in the garden or contact me via the details below if you are interested in sharing ideas or being involved.

I am also thrilled to be launching a new wellbeing group this September – Greenway Nature Wellbeing Project. This will be a welcoming and supportive group where together we slow down, connect with others, and find a sense of calm. Through a range of nature-based activities we will explore different ways to deepen our connection with the natural world, while helping to care for and enhance the natural spaces at Greenway.

Whether you are looking to improve your wellbeing, meet new people, spend more time outdoors, or simply enjoy the benefits of connecting with and caring for nature, you will be warmly welcomed.

To join us for this free six-week nature-based programme to support mental health and wellbeing, starting Monday 21st September, please contact me.
