A New Grass Roots Partnership with Bristol United Walking Football Club

21/05/2026

Keith, Jon, and Nobby, from Bristol United Walking Football Club, arrived on a soggy morning this week to volunteer at Greenway Centre. The morning began with torrential rain, but the group’s energy and enthusiasm soon brought brilliant weather (they told us they had friends in high places!). Armed with tools and good humour, they set about clearing up our grounds, making swift work of the undergrowth that had got the better of our garden.

Their visit marks a new partnership taking root which we are all very excited about. Not only are they getting stuck in to tidy our green spaces, but soon they will be offering Walking Football for adults at our other site, The Ranch. If you would like to be involved in the friendship, fun, and fitness that Walking Football offers – watch this space.

On top of this, they hope to start a regular gardening group here at Greenway, and if you are keen to volunteer to garden in good company, we will be sharing news about this new group very soon.

Meanwhile, a massive thanks to Keith, Jon, and Nobby for not only a hard day’s graft, but for sowing the seeds for some fantastic new groups for Southmead residents.
