Another Step Towards Glencoyne!

19/08/2024

You may remember the story last year which detailed the need to submit amended  plans for the proposed new homes on Glencoyne Square.  This was to include some recommendations made by the Council’s Design, Ecology, and Highways teams.

Thank you to all residents who shared thoughts on this updated set of designs via the Council’s public planning portal.

We are now delighted to share the news that we have been granted full planning permission on the revised plans to go ahead with the project.  This means that, all being well, by next year, contractors will be working on site to build this long-awaited area of housing, with a new library and other community space.  We still have lots of work to do before we can get started, but this is a key milestone to allow us to take the project forward.

So far, the plans for Glencoyne Square have been nearly ten years in the making, and to receive this key go ahead is the result of an immense amount of hard work and investment.  Most importantly it is due to the commitment of the residents who have led the project to get it to this point.

The original ideas came from the Southmead Community Survey and 2015 Plan.  A group of residents then formed a group to bring proposals together, bringing investment to Southmead, and driving the ideas forward.  Massive thanks to this group of residents who are the champions of this project.  We also have a great team of specialist professional support, from architects to valuers, who have helped us get to this stage.  We now cannot wait to see the designs begin to come to life.

During 2025 we expect to see visible change on Glencoyne.  When completed there will be 187 one-to-two-bedroom flats, a brand-new library, a range of community spaces, new park areas, and gardens (for more on this click>HERE).

As always please go to our website for more news and a timeline of the project, and do not hesitate to get in touch with the project team for more info.
