SUMMARY:Mindfulness for Cancer: Free 8-week Course in the Community
DESCRIPTION:Are you living with and beyond a cancer diagnosis? \nYou may be living with and beyond a cancer diagnosis for many years or have just reached the end of hospital-based treatments. When all the appointments\, treatments\, and check-ups stop\, and support mechanisms are withdrawn\, it can feel like a lonely and isolating time. Particularly\, when others expect ‘life to go back to normal’ now that the ‘treatment is over’ and you are ‘cured’. Our experienced teachers of this specialised 8-week Mindfulness for Cancer course have heard these stereotypical phrases many times. Partners\, carers\, and family members impacted by a cancer diagnosis can also benefit from this course. \nConnecting with others\, who are not family and friends\, provides a safe and supportive space to explore the impact emotionally\, physically and cognitively (thoughts). Mindfulness allows us to do this in a non-invasive way: this is not counselling; this is a skills-based course. \nThis course is two-and-a-half-hour sessions\, once a week\, for 8 weeks. There will also be 30 minutes of home practice over these 56 days. However\, the rewards can be life-changing. \nNCIM are able to offer this course for free thanks to a Cost of Living Grant that we were awarded. The grant stipulates that we can work with communities living within a BS postcode\, which covers Bristol City\, North Somerset (including Weston-Super-Mare\, Axbridge\, Banwell\, Cheddar\, Clevedon\, Wedmore\, Winscombe)\, and South Gloucestershire. If you feel you do not meet these criteria\, please do register your interest nonetheless. Two weeks prior to the start of the course any remaining places may be allocated to those who do not meet the criteria. DESCRIPTION:The group is for expectant couples – pregnant women/people and your partner. We warmly welcome dads and co-parents-to-be\, including a significant other who will have a close\, lasting relationship with your baby. \nThe group will support each parent to connect individually with your unborn baby\, to give you both space to explore any hopes and fears about becoming a parent\, and to support you as a couple to prepare for the changes to your relationship and family. \nPeople who attend might be first-time parents\, or you may already be parents who would like to spend time preparing to parent the baby who is on the way. SUMMARY:An Inspector Calls on the Greenway Stage
DESCRIPTION:An Inspector Calls is the latest production from the Southmead Players\, a community theatre company.  We are relatively new\, and we would love the support of residents to come and see the show produced by the community for the community. \nWe are now looking forward to bringing An Inspector Calls to the Greenway Stage and cannot wait to see you there.  An Inspector Calls is a play by J. B. Priestley and the story revolves around the apparent suicide of a young woman called Eva Smith. In the play\, the unsuspecting Birling family are visited by the mysterious Inspector Goole.
